I’m looking for the moment. A glance. An expression. A gesture.

The guitarist contorts his face and leans back, music surging from his instrument, up the spine, contorting his face like a lightning strike. The singer reaches out, touching the outstretched hands of her fans. The drum beat kicks in. The audience begins to clap.

There’s a synthesis between the ephemeral energy of live music, the performance of the band and the soul of the audience—and if I time it just right, the shutter clicks and that energy becomes a photograph that becomes a record of one sacred moment where the music took over and everything else in life faded away.

That’s rock ‘n’ roll.
